Tim Ward selected for Tasmanian Cricket Team

Tim Ward, alumni Class 2015, has recently been selected to play representative Cricket for Tasmania. Here is a short bio from Tim.

After finishing my HSC year at RHAC in 2015 I enrolled in a Sports Development course graduating in 2016. Whilst studying I continued to play Grade cricket for the Parramatta District Cricket Club in the NSW Premier Cricket competition. After steady improvement in the 2016/2017 season I was picked to play First Grade. The following season I was promoted up the order to opening batsman, where I prefer to bat. I had another good season and established myself in First Grade. The following two seasons I performed very well scoring a total of 7 centuries and was selected to play a couple of matches for NSW 2nd XI. In 2020 I was contacted by Cricket Tasmania and they offered me a State Rookie Contract so I moved down to Tasmania to become a full time cricketer.

Once I had moved to Tasmania I had a good season playing for the University of Tasmania Cricket Club alongside the likes of Tim Paine and James Faulkner. It was great to be a part of the club winning the Premiership and the One Day competition.

I was then selected to play for Tasmania in the final Sheffield Shield match of the season against Western Australia at the WACA in Perth. This was a great experience, achieving a dream I have had since I was young, as well as playing alongside and against many current and former Australian players.

My plans for the future in cricket are to establish myself as an integral part of the Tasmanian team and represent Australia. I also plan to complete a degree at the University of Tasmania.

The photo is with Tim Paine after he presented me with my Tasmanian cap at the WACA just prior to the start of the match.
